The holiday season can be hard for those whose hearts are hurting. You are not alone. “Blue Christmas” is a gentle, contemplative service for those who are carrying pain or loss during this season of celebration.
Our Blue Christmas service on December 22 at 2:00 pm will offer refuge from holiday cheer for those who are grieving, have lost loved ones, or are dealing with difficult life situations. Led by the Rev. Kevin Tarsa, Allison Rivers, and Sue Gregory, this tender service, open to people of all and of no religious affiliation, will make room for genuine feelings, quiet reflection, music and singing, silence, tears, candle lighting, and sharing.
Come, gather in the spirit of deep presence—perhaps not the presence of cheer that is often expected and maybe even forced this time of year, but the presence that allows us to sit with all that we feel, especially the sorrow that might weigh heavy on our hearts. This is a time to acknowledge that grief is as much a part of the human experience as joy and that it is okay and even necessary to carry both.
