UUCM and Hospitality House have a long history of partnership and mutual benefit.
Utah Phillips, a founder of Hospitality House, was also a founding member of UUCM. UUCM was the first ‘welcome center’ when Hospitality House opened as a nomadic shelter in 2005. We are proud to be continuous supporters of Hospitality House in 3 major ways:
- Hospitality House is an annual Share-the-Plate partner of the month, which means once a year, they receive 50% of the monthly donations to the Sunday plate offerings.
- A team of UUCM volunteers cooks dinner for Hospitality House guests once per month. If you’re interested in donating toward this effort or volunteering, please contact Justice@uugrassvalley.org.
- We have a monthly collection of specific items needed by Hospitality House guests. Donors can drop off their items any time and the donations are taken to Hospitality House usually in the first week of the following month.
Here are the requested items for January 2025:
Due the generosity of Nevada County neighbors, Hospitality House is not currently accepting donations other than store-bought, unexpired food. (Specifically requested on their website are boxes of protein bars and ground coffee.)
