A new book study group will be starting in late September. The Book is Mistakes and Miracles: Congregations on the Road to Multiculturalism, the UU common read for 2022-2023.
This book sparks transformative conversation about making Beloved Community real and dismantling white supremacy in our Unitarian Universalist faith communities. Co-authors Nancy Palmer Jones and Karin Lin – a white minister and a lay person of color – explore five UU congregations’ journeys toward Beloved Community and share the joy, disappointment and growth these congregations found. According to UUA, “engaging with this book can help UU congregations grapple with our movement’s charge to dismantle white supremacy in ourselves, our communities and our world. Doing this Common Read together is one way for a UU faith community to engage in this important work.”
The study group will meet for four 90-minute sessions starting on Sunday, September 24 at noon in the Channing Room. The dates for the remaining sessions will be determined by the group. The book will be available from the UUCM office for a discounted price of $20.
