We all need extra care sometimes on our journey through life.
The UUCM Caring Teams offer two different kinds of support at times of special need: parish care, meaning short term practical support (meals, rides, etc.) and pastoral care, meaning deep listening and caring presence for longer periods of time.
Parish Care
Parish Care volunteers offer practical support for members and friends through brief times of need: transportation to local appointments, a ride to UUCM on Sunday, preparing or delivering a meal, and essential errands. Volunteers also send cards of caring and celebration and assist with hosting and refreshments at memorial services.
As Unitarian Universalists we believe that we all share in the responsibility for one another’s care, and so we invite all members and friends of UUCM to become actively involved in this wonderfully important opportunity to serve.
If interested in supporting this work, please fill out this brief Parish Care Volunteer Sign-up to identify tasks you would be willing to do on occasion. The Care Team will contact you as need arises to see if you are available.

Pastoral Care
The Lay Pastoral Care Team
Members of the UUCM’s Lay Pastoral Care Team support a person who is experiencing particularly stressful life challenges, providing deep listening, and a confidential, ongoing, caring presence on behalf of and with the supervision of the minister. Lay Pastoral Care Team members offer skillful and compassionate listening rather than therapy.
Lay Pastoral Care Team members typically meet with a person weekly for up to an hour – in person, by phone, or by Zoom – ranging from one to several visits, to a few weeks or months, up to a year.
